Against my own advice, we purchased a property with a house that needs a big renovation, if not torn down. But my late wife absolutely loved the property, so for those of you who have been fortunate to be married for a few years you know the rest of the storey. I have been working closely with the building industry for forty years so I know what I am getting into, or so I thought. I know first and foremost the contractor is the most important component of the project. They can make or break the project and they can make your life simple or miserable during this process. I know a lot of contractors in the business and know their work. What I look for in any contractors is the integrity, workmanship and lastly pricing. What a lot of people do is make the mistake of looking at the price first. Anyone can tell you they can beat anyone’s price but can they actually deliver it on budget and on time with decent workmanship or can they ultimately even deliver it at all?! After 40 years n business I can tell you horror stories after horror stories if you have a couple of hours.
The first contractor that came to my mind was Pacific Coastal Home. I’ve worked with them professionally for over 20 years and I know the owner Doug to be an honest person. We sat down with his design team and set a budget. The project was started on time, delivered a few days before promised, beautifully finished and the budget was blown ??. I am not blaming PCH for this because when you’re doing a to the stud renovation you never know what you’re going to run into when you opened up the walls and floors. I have been in this business long enough to understand this. We ended up having to re-wire and replace all the pipes and plumbing of the entire house. During the design process to the final finishing, they were very accommodating and easy to work with. They have an excellent group of trades that have been working for them for years. His design team Brad and Tami worked patiently with us and tried to understand our wishes and incorporate into the design. Doug was always very mindful of our budget, offering ways to save some money without compromising the quality and esthetics of the project. My late wife was so happy about the finished product she kept saying “I’ve got my dream home I’ve always wanted.”
She passed away suddenly nine months after we moved into our new home. I wished she had more time to enjoy it but I thank Doug, Tami and Brad and their team of contractors to give her her dream home before she went to her heavenly mansion to be with Jesus.
Do I recommend PCH? Without reservation.

We were very pleased with Doug and his team on our home renovation. Doug had great communication with my wife throughout the entire process and the team was readily available. The quality of work was excellent and we would highly recommend Doug to anyone considering a reliable and quality home builder.

Doug came highly recommended to us and still managed to exceed our expectations. He was prompt, reliable and somehow made the entire process of tearing our house apart enjoyable. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the job Pacific Coastal Homes did, from the flawless finishes to the layout suggestions that really improved the functionality of the home. They are a company I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone.
