An HONEST review of a Schumacher home built out of the milford ohio branch that we had built on our land. REGRETFULLY we contracted Schumacher Homes to build our forever home on our land that we had purchased prior years after finding a house plan that we fell in love with. Doing our due diligence we looked up reviews on Schumacher out of Milford Ohio there were alot of bad reviews and a few good ones. We figured if hey if we stayed on top of things during the building process and pointed out evry mistake or changes we wanted we would get the house we've always wanted and it would be built with quality. Now here we are one year later regretting even sitting down to talk about contracting them to build our house. To start off (EVERY) single contractor that was subbed out by Schumacher did something wrong at one point or another. I am here to tell you they think there work was of quality but its trash, I would call or text grady and tom on a daily basis to tell them what ridiculous issues we discovered only to be told to let them do their job regardless of how terrible the quality was.Quick example we payed extra for flat ceilings throughout the whole house show up and every ceiling in the house got textured due to Tom and Grady not doing there jobs and communicating with the drywall finishers, not to mention there is still ALOT of areas on our ceilings throughout our house still textured even though we marked every area with red stickers during our final walk threw. The two small windows that you can see in one picture it was framed higher up than the other. We had problems with our plumbing, electrical, framing is a joke, concrete, you name it we had issues and the bad part is Grady and Tom we're OK with this so called quality of work. We had problems with the window installation at the peak as you can see in the pictures how bad the carpentry was. We still have problems with our vinyl plank flooring separating in random spots threw out our house and we have raised areas in our subfloor in several spots. Tom hovan came out to take a look at it only for him to say they would only pay for half the flooring to be ripped up, osb to be sanded down but they would have to install a 20ft transition strip in the middle of our high traffic area as well as under our laundry room door rather than doing it the right way and tearing up all the vinyl plank flooring and lay new vinyl plank back down after the subfloor is repaired with no transition strips installed like it was when we first had it built. Warranty is trash!!Tom hovan wanted to charge us an additional $1800 for the remaining parts of the floor to be ripped up if we wanted no transition strips like the original blueprints called for. There is nothing but EXCUSE after EXCUSE with this company. They have stopped back out on several occasions for warranty work in attempt to repair drywall and paint with no luck and looks worse now than what it did before they attempted repairs. Our front lower window we have had the glass changed out twice on it and again it was excuse after excuse then they acted like it was our fault that they kept installing bad glass. Our drywall throughout the house for lack of better words is some of the worst I've ever seen. Keep in mind is you make the MISTAKE like we did and have this joke of a company build your home your remember your a number to them they could care less about there garbage work. Tom and Grady's only goal is to get us to sign the final Draw paperwork so they can wash their hands of this house and move on. They promise you everything under the sun to get you to sign then tell you its not possible, I would highly recommend staying far far away from this company so you are not stuck with all these same issues and have to go threw the HORRIBLE building process with your home like we did. You are just a number and a paycheck to Tom and Grady. All these issues in the pictures you are seeing was brought up over and over again. Take your hard earned money elsewhere to a company that cares about you and quality work
Building our home with Schumacher Homes did not meet our expectations. I sincerely regret our decision to choose Schumacher Homes for this project. The building process diverged significantly from what we had anticipated, resulting in an experience we would never wish to repeat. Our experience might not reflect everyone's, but it underscores the importance of due diligence when selecting a home builder.
The Cincinnati Team was great to work with from their sales team (Dale & Lisa) , to our customer coordinator (Heidi & Erin) and our personal builder (Kyle), and general manager (Tom). The team went above and beyond for us always putting our questions and concerns first!Kyle, our personal builder was honest, transparent, attentive to detail, and always going out of his way for us! If you get Kyle as your personal builder you have won the lottery! We are very happy with our build and cannot wait to get moved in and begin making it our forever home! Thank you for making this building process simple and fun!
This was a lot longer, but Google has limits and I had to pare it down. What I liked about Schumacher is that you can go to their website and actually pick out and price your home. Of course, they are custom, so if you want to do something of your own design with sizes of bathrooms, extra rooms, or wild and interesting ideas, you have to make an appointment for specifics. On the website, the basic prices are right there and as you pick your home, floorplan, options, and basic price. You can make an account and that way you can save a few floorplans with options and then whittle choices down from there. I think the whole concept is a little newer, so not everything you can do is in there. I am hoping in the future they can continue to add other options available on the home that can be done through the virtual build feature. Let me add, NO other company I have seen has this feature.Dale (who does sales and takes care of the initial home selection and design) is wonderful to deal with. I told him what I wanted and he found the options I was interested in and customized that plan. He knows every possible option to the floorplans and loves to hear ideas for personalized add-ons. He is so nice and I felt like I was talking with a friend. He gives honest and smart advice on what will work and what will look weird (I did have a few ideas that looking back now would have been a bad decision so thank goodness he caught that). I had a few meetings and changed my mind a couple of times, even changing the house once, and he was not upset with me or was annoyed in any way. He was able to add the options from the house I originally chose right to the house I finally decided on. He emailed me right back on questions or prices.Lisa is the design expert, and you can tell she loves her work on finding the best designs that will work for people. I am not great with colors or flooring, or what goes with what. She could tell I was struggling and started with basic questions on what I liked from the website gallery or guidebook and then put some colors together. I loved what she figured out for me. I really liked that she offered praise and encouragement along the way. The walls, LVT flooring, carpet, cabinets, tile, and even the small details like drawer pulls all came together. I left feeling confident that my house is not going to look like a circus.Tom is the general manager and he is always available if needed. He is very nice and easy to talk to. He knows his stuff and in the pre-con meeting he is the one doing the changes (redlines) we wanted after the initial design session and reviewing with the builder. I like the pre-construction concept because the GM and builder are right there to discuss important things, how things should be done, and catch anything off.Rodney was our builder, and man is he gifted. He has a good heart and soul, is always smiling, and willing to answer questions. He really cares about his job; to build you a beautiful home. I saw him on the jobsite almost every working day (in the morning). His employees and contractors are experts and respectful. He has a good crew that he trusts and does not need to hover over them. We were there multiple times during the build and they made us feel welcome and not acting like we were bothering them. They do their job, do it well, and then leave. They were respectful of my property and did not leave trash around. Rodney has boundaries and I respect that (he needs a weekend off like everyone else who works their butt off), so if you call, text, or email him on a weekend he will get back to you first thing Monday morning. It was nice to be able to text him and send him pictures of various things and he answer my question through text. He will call you if it needs to be a longer conversation, but I told him with my work schedule texting is best for me. He kept me informed of when big things were happening. He suggested we put an extra drain in due to the condition of the soil (after excavation) and I am so glad he did. My basement (and the sump pump) stay bone dry.
After several years of wanting to build on our farmland we were hesitant to begin such an undertaking. We had visited the design center previously with a different house plan in mind but after much back and forth decided it wasn’t the right time for our family. Fast-forward 4 years and I saw the Meadowview. I instantly loved the exterior plan. Arik was our sales rep and was so helpful! When we met for our pre-construction meeting we expressed some interior concerns and our builder Rodney had excellent ideas that we love about our home today! We were so grateful for the collaboration between our builder and us to hear our concerns and make our home custom to our needs. From meeting with Lisa to pick out our options for flooring , cabinetry, paint etc. everyone was very patient with us. We especially were so grateful to Rodney for the special attention to each detail he gave our home. He allowed us to be 100% present with questions or observations and handled each detail. We love our new home and feel it was a positive exciting experience with Schumacher.
