We have been very pleased with the Schumacher home process. Although we haven't broke ground yet, thus far the process has been seamless. From the time we walked in everyone has been so nice. Bud sat with us and worked with us on the initial contract. Nicole was great with our selection process. I have to give a huge shout out to Natalia! She worked with us on perfecting the design. Her ideas and persistence to make sure we had everything we wanted in our home was awesome. When she knew I wanted a small office and we were trying to figure out the best place to put it, I was ready to let it go and not have one for myself but she worked on it until we found the perfect spot. She is amazing, answered all our questions! She has been so patient and kind through this whole process. Looking forward to the next steps in this process.

I put two stars because the showroom homes are beautiful. To include to the receptionist were very nice and helpful. I'm a Veteran and learned of the 580 credit score to use my VA loan. My credit is above that and wanted to see what I would be approved for on September 16. Ive had to email the loan specialist several times and It's almost November and the loan specialist said Oct 1st he'd start working my packet. I have heard nothing. Not a yes or a No. At this point I have a bad taste in my mouth.

It’s taken me a while to post a review as I closed on my house February of 2023. We broke ground early 2022. During our build we encountered many challenges as it was a trying time for building as a whole. From product delays, team change ups, and I could go on and on. It’s never easy to take on a build. Simple as that. Don’t expect easy.

With that being said, I want to focus on the positives. The end result is our dream home on our dream location. It look teamwork, hard honesty and lots and lots of perseverance. I felt the team at Schumacher listened and cared about my end result and supported us through the challenges. Even now after a year and half of living in the home. To finalize the last punch list warranty request and still feel like we mattered.
The materials and floor plans offered by Schumacher are of great selection and quality. We took comfort in their contract and follow through in the end. It’s a solid product offered to build a semi custom home on your own lot. The budget was clear and the sales team helped us prepare and try to think of every detail so there weren’t surprises at the end when the contract was signed. If we went with any other builder I am certain we would’ve had many price changes and financial limits being pushed. I like their contracted price model.
Ultimately, the understanding and respect that Schumacher and we showed one another helped us get to the finish line. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Likely so.

In the end I’m glad it wasn’t rushed and appreciate the team members who stood next to us and shared in our excitement. Thank you Mike K. and Kari.

This is gonna be a long one with no spacing due to character limits but it's MY experience. It's been a year since we moved into our home & it has been an absolute nightmare since day 1!! We had to fight them to have our Realtor paid because THEY determined we "didn't need one." We started the process with the price of our home increasing over $200k in less than 6 months (Covid). Despite that, we pressed forward, signed & then NOTHING for over 90 days. I had to reach out to the GM who had no idea they hadn't even broke land. The build was supposed to take 9 months, it took 14. Unauthorized, excessive & unnecessary charges. We paid extra for 10ft ceilings in our basement (a pretty penny) only for them to run the HVAC across the ceiling which significantly decreased the height of the ceilings we paid extra for. Made all of our selections for them to contact us months later when they had cabinets & countertops installed in our bathroom, to tell us the tile we selected was discontinued FIVE YEARS prior. We had to completely change the entire bathroom because of it, & it took months for the counters & cabinets to be switched. Since we have moved in, literally 1 year & 2 months ago... we have had the HVAC fail & went 3 days with no air in the middle of the summer until it could be repaired. We have a glass shower & had to have it repaired because it shifted & squeaked every time you would open or close the door. There is literally a hole cut into in my closet wall because the plumber needed to access the sink. No one has ever come to repair it. We had a leak in the basement that damaged our furniture & lasted 6 months before it was fixed. Septic guy blamed the plumber, plumber blamed the septic, then septic blamed us. A recent hailstorm (I thought) caused damage to the roof causing water to leak in the home. Roofer comes out & says it wasn't hail, it was in fact a nail that was not sealed. Today, when roofers randomly showed up to our home & literally started taking shingles off the roof, we found out that there were MULTIPLE issues with the roof that were never brought to our attention. (Employee actually told me they never did a final inspection of our roof when the house was finished). The Mooresville office is TERRIBLE with communication. They schedule repair people & don't notify us so we can be home. Will say repair people are coming, we take time off work to be home & no one shows up. I am pretty sure we have had to call with an issue no less than a dozen times in a 12-month span. No one answers the phone. Email is hit or miss. The turnover is incredulous. Since we started the project, we went through 3 General Contractors & they are on the 3rd General Manager. (Which I will say, the 2nd GM Keith Allison was a DREAM to work with! I believe health issues caused his transition, but he was probably the best thing that this company could have ever had). There is a random electrical socket sticking out of the brick in the front of my home that no one can explain, nor have done anything to repair. The list goes on & on... Don't even get me started on Schumacher Mortgage. Payments gone missing, told we no longer qualified for our loan 2 days after we received the keys to our new home & were forced into a terrible portfolio loan, disastrous! We started the refinance process to get away from them before we had even celebrated a year in our home. Overall, a HORRENDOUS experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. For the price of our home, we should have been able to fall in love with it and never had the pleasure. I highly recommend working with ANY other company. Theresa Montgomery, Keith Allison and Jarod/Jamal/I so wish I remembered his name from the Duncan/Spartanburg location were absolutely PHENOMENAL. Even though the guy in Duncan was not involved in our build due to location, he always gave us an open door to come talk with him during the process, explained things in more detail, allowed us to vent with the problems we were having throughout the process, etc.
