Everything went well highly recommend that you visit. The designer showroom is beautiful as well as the model home TOURS. Very clean and neat. Beautiful finishes are available. Looking forward to building my next home in the near future.
A subpar builder with disappointing & over priced “upgrades”. The base & optional selections are underwhelming and lack imagination. I don’t know how to word it other than to say, it feels very lax. Like they can’t be bothered to update their options from 25 years ago. Just another production builder that cares more about the bottom line than building a quality, appealing home.
My wife and I are working with Donessa in the Charleston office. We are so pleased. Donessa is super friendly, professional, and efficient. She helped us tremendously in many ways. We cannot wait to see the final product!
Donessa was a true professional. She ensured that we were well informed about the processes and the choices that were available to us. She gave us all the information, documentation and understanding to decide if we truly wanted to go with Schumacher as our Forever Home Builder. Donessa was a vital part of our yes, we look forward to this journey and the end result of our beautiful new home!
I wanted potential buyers to see a review from an actual customer who has built start to finish with Schumacher here in Charleston. Let’s agree, that building a home can easily become an overwhelming project and that the economic peaks and valleys of the past few years have created an unprecedented level of uncertainty with regards to real estate. I work a construction career that exposes me to a variety of homes throughout the Charleston area which had only further bolstered my belief that picking the correct home builder would be the difference between success and disaster. The following identifies some truths about my general beliefs:I knew where I wanted to build.I had high expectations.I had low confidence in the majority of trade work in CharlestonI expected I was not the normal clientele, I was younger and had some insight in construction.I would identify as being tough to work withI was skeptical the cost wouldn’t find creative ways to increase.I went to Schumachers head office in Ladson and found a builder prepared and capable to accept my project They developed my build based on my selections. As I watched the interest rates climb, I waited patiently to get my land survey to ensure the lot I wanted to build on was approved for the design before signing any contracts or exchanging any money. The property I had selected had some complicated easements to deal with that we’re effectively “deal breakers”.While there were many set backs in this department, once the surveys were corrected and the land was granted a tentative approval, I went into business with Schumacher. I cannot express to you how impactful my project supervisor , Ryan, was in my selection of Schumacher. It became very apparent at my lot walk thru that I had been blessed with a GC who was excited, seasoned, confident and highly qualified to perform the job. Without his direct involvement this project very well may have failed to launch . Once the paperwork was cleared, it was off to the races. The project flowed like clockwork. It was clear this wasn’t Schumacher first rodeo. I will establish that there were most certainly problems along the way, but none that weren’t overcome with a solution. By all means, Schumacher homes exceeded my expectations. They were transparent with me along the way. I watched nearly every day as my patch of earth transformed from an empty lot to the place my family now calls home.Ground was broken in mid March and I received CO in Mid October; lightning fast by any standard. I completed my financing through Schumacher’s mortgage whom were imperative in both closing the land and the construction to permanent financing loan. Best of all, through it all- i came in below budget. A feat totally unheard of in the building profession today.Suggestions for future home-buyers;Talk with resources regarding building ;Schumacher performs their building to code, but in some areas it would be a good idea to go above minimum code.Examples- 2x6 exterior walls as opposed to 2x4. Heavier duty plywood on roofing as opposed to minimum requirements.Schumacher homes are completely customizable in this regard.Upgrading areas that would be more cost efficient now as opposed to l replacing later on. Ie: cabinet packages, counter tops.By the end of this review let me first say that yes, building is an enormous project and carries large emotional ramifications. Unexpected things will occur. In my experience, I have learned a ton. I have surely not given all the credit to those individuals who were responsible for moving this project to completion. Schumacher homes is completely knowledgeable ,competent and established in the Charleston area to get the job done.At this time, I have a few minor repairs I haven’t had Schumacher fix prior to the end of my warranty period but am fully confident they will remediate any of these issues as soon as I identify them to the proper avenue.I am fortunate
