My wife and I purchased a home in Westport that had been lovingly renovated by Peter Stofa & Company. As an historic house (built circa 1840), it was a challenging renovation and required Peter Stofa and his team to make structural repairs (shoring up and leveling the floors, installing sub flooring where none existed before), replace the roof and siding, upgrade the electrical system, install new heating and air conditioning systems and insulation, new kitchens, bathrooms and build a new detached garage. All the while, maintaining the antique feel of the home. As someone who has renovated several homes previously, I am extremely impressed by the fit and finish and attention to details — from the matching of new floorboards to the antique flooring, to the exacting installation of bathroom tiles and shower fixtures. The house has all the modern systems you would expect. Most importantly, even though we were not involved in the construction (we purchased it from the owner as it received its certificate of occupancy), Peter and his colleagues have followed up with us, connecting us with their sub-contractors to answer questions and fixing punch list items that frankly another builder might not view as his or her responsibility.We are extremely happy with our new/antique home!

Peter Stofa completed a second floor renovation project for us in 2024 - delivering on time and on budget. Peter's team was fastidious in their workmanship and attention to detail, and did their best to minimize disruption and inconvenience through the rest of the house. We hired Peter for a substantial house renovation/addition and were very happy with him and his team. Throughout the entire process Peter was very responsive and easy to work with. Peter and his team always showed up when they said they would and kept the construction site tidy. Even after our projects have ended Peter has continued to be helpful offering to come by to take a look at various things in our house. Peter’s work is exceptional and I would definitely recommend.
We have dealt with Peter in some major renovations to a house we bought. We had hired a prior contractor who showed up at times, never finished a project unless you screamed at him and finally replaced him with Peter. Talk about night and day. Peter was there with suggestions, plans, samples, started the project when he said he would, was willing/helpful when we needed changes or alternations in the plans. Nothing was done without him going over with us the work involved and the price. When the work was over, the work areas were vacuumed, any thing that needed a touch up was done immediately. We left the keys with him. His workers were polite, neat and competent. After the project was done when something else came up, he came over on short notice to help us correct some unforeseen problem and even today, over a year after the work was done, if we have a problem he comes over and fixes it. We were super lucky to find him and having had some other highly recommended contractor who was unreliable we really appreciate the difference. Simply put, Peter is an honest, wholly trustworthy contractor who does great work. I won’t put my name here but I’ve offered to let Peter bring people over to look at the work he did in our house.
