"My experience buying a Smith Douglas home was largely positive. Nora Luna was helpful throughout the process, guiding me through selections and keeping me informed. I was pleased with the quality of the build and the finishes, and my home met my expectations. Overall, it was a smooth and satisfying experience."
We are recent homeowners in the Odenville Pines of Ridgefield subdivision in St. Clair county, AL. Since living here, we have realized there is a serious issue with water runoff that seems to be concerns that should’ve been addressed during the building process of proper runoff. Myself and many other neighbors are experiencing serious, flooding issues and water creating creek environments in our backyards. Even front yards water just settles and does not properly runoff due to the slopes. I strongly feel Smith Douglas needs to come back and address these concerns or many of us neighbors need to form together to seek legal advice to force accountability.
I was extremely pleased with my entire home-buying experience. From start to finish, everything went smoothly, and the team truly exceeded my expectations. The builder, Regan, was exceptionally proficient, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented—qualities I genuinely appreciated. He was always professional, answered every question I had, and never once said “no.” His primary goal was clearly to make sure I was happy with my home, and it showed in every interaction.I also truly enjoyed working with Alexis in the sales office. She was wonderful to work with, communicated clearly and consistently, and made the process easy and stress-free. She is an outstanding representative. Both Regan and Alexis are outstanding representatives of Smith Douglas Homes. I would absolutely recommend them and am happy to give them both five stars.
Wonderful experience with our sales agent Jeanette and builder Kathy! Coming from my experience as a builder in the Charlotte area, I can say that Smith Douglas's product is very much worth the price and great locations. So excited to finally have purchased a home and with their help, along side our realtor (Jerry Lambert) this couldn't have been an easier process!
I normally don’t leave reviews, but after 14 months of frustration, I feel obligated to warn future homebuyers about my experience with Smith Douglas Homes.I purchased my home here in Calhoun because it is close to my military duty station, and I expected professionalism, honesty, and follow-through. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience, especially when it comes to my backyard, which still has not been released or properly completed 14 months after closing. While every other homeowner around me had their yards graded, leveled, released, and even fenced within weeks of moving in, my yard was left with:• a black tarp dividing the unfinished area from the finished portion,• 3–5 foot tall weeds,• large rocks, uneven ground, and bare dirt,• and absolutely no sign of grading. The only thing the builder has done in over a year is remove the tarp, 14 months later, something I could have easily done myself. I have photos showing my neighbor’s completed yard from last year and photos of my yard today, which still looks like a construction site. No one else in the neighborhood has had this issue, which makes the whole situation even more disappointing.Because of this experience, I do not recommend purchasing a home from Smith Douglas Homes unless you take the following precautions:1. Get everything in writing every promise, every statement about what will be completed, and every detail about grading, sod, drainage, and yard release.2. Get the contact information for the construction manager and the area manager before closing.3. Document everything with photos and emails from day one(I did this but they keep switching people).4. Do not assume that something “standard” will be done, insist on written timelines and hold them accountable. My issue has been ignored for far too long, and no homeowner should have to deal with this kind of delay, especially after paying full price for a new construction home. I sincerely hope no one else ends up in this situation.Smith Douglas Homes needs to do better and future buyers deserve to know what they’re walking into.
