ALERT ALERT ALERT - PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS !!!!!!! Mind you they already have a class action lawsuit. In addition theyre facing RICO charges in other states. They tried to get you tied up into signing an arbitration clause. They got a lawsuit in South Carolina AND Louisiana from the issues I'm also experiencing here in Texas! It's nice someone found a great attorney that had good ties with some of these judges to get their bs arbitration clause waived

Do not buy!

Theyre sweet and nice until it's time to do their damn job here.Whats a warranty for if you can barely use it.

Trying to to work with this company is like having another full time job but you arenr paid

1. Drainage - Their warranty company is BEYOND trash, if you have drainage issues it's like pulling tooth and nails getting them to cover it. it took 8 months of going back and forth getting drains covered. People here half ass does their job. They used Premier to install our drains and premier didn't want to clean up their mess and laid down dead grass so we have a line of dead grass running down our yard. Mind you drains were installed on both sides of my house one side grass is growing fine they did drains on the opposite side a different day and laid down DEAD grass and said it needed to be watered more..how when you can clearly see grass is growing find on the other side with drains..it felt as if DR Horton found the cheapest place to add in drains.. their customer service and quality is CRAP.

2. Walls - When doing a deep cleaning of our house we pulled the stove back and there was a cut out behind the wall.

3. Land - DR Horton literally digs up dirt and lays down the same dirt and lays grass over it so if that land has rocks under the ground expect to have repetitive issues mowing. YOU WILL NOT SEE THE ROCKS UNTIL WINTER HAS PASSED YOULL REALIZE IT IN SPRING

4. Dead Trees- when you move in the trees will be nice you'll water it as often as they say you should and then your tree dies anyways. One neighbors tree died because of the poor quality of soil (dirt they pulled up when building and laid back down) they winded up finding an old tree stump under it. This indicates before the moved in they had a tree in that spot that died and didn't pull it all the way up and just thre another tree on top of it resulting in their tree dying.

5. Trash- these people literally lay grass on top of anything seems like... our grass was dying in one area and found out there was a energy drink can under it amongst other trash.

6. Flower bed - they really don't give a damn they planted plants on top of clay and rocks and trash it took us 8 hours .YES 8. to pull up all the rocks and clay and in the midst of it found brick from our house in the flower bed.

7. 6 month/11month warranty - They will tell you someone will reach out to you for your 6 month and 11 month walk through to find items that covered under warranty but that's a damn lie.

8. Yard - when buying this house we purchased in the fall they laid down fresh grass obviously in the winter it dies and boy did that show alot of poor quality we had all types of rocks that were showing in the ground and coming up from the soil a buch of small rock and alot of big rocks so if they just laid grass down beware !!! it's not as you think

9. Plants - you can water as often as you should if the land and soil are crap theyll die so expect to buy more sometime soon.

10. Fences - Don't let you have wind come through your Fence just may blow down

Mind you these are very very brief summary of just a few of the issues weve had there's plenty more google wont let me type in my full review. They just may reply to this post with a generic response without taking ACCOUNTABILITY and say ooh contact us ,,, I did this post is so people are aware to spend their hard earned money else where or save a bit more to find another builder with better quality and customer service !!!! if I could give this company negative stars I would, live in your house and year and you'll start to see the crap I'm talking about. GOOD DAMM DAY !

When it comes to warranty work, this home builder is less interested in what they can do and more interested in what they can avoid doing. The reason people have homes built is so they can have warranties and don’t have to worry about things while they settle in. But things that are clearly messed up during construction are considered not covered. Getting the warranty work done is also not very easy. They don’t do warranty work on weekends, so you must be at the house when dealing with them. Plus, they make you do a lot of the leg work and it seems to be a high maintenance job to deal with everybody. I could have chosen a better home builder but that would have cost me an additional 200K for the same size house. Unfortunately, this is the crazy housing market we live in today.

DR Horton sold us a house that has a major drainage problems and never disclosed to us the backyard floods. These pictures are after a heavy rain and we are so worried because hurricane season is coming. With a hurricane, our brand new house will flood. DH Horton knows this and is doing nothing. From the beginning communication with DR Horton Biloxi office it was awful. They pushed the problem onto the County. They do not follow up or call back. We will never buy from DR Horton again. I highly recommend NOT to buy from them. They are not trustworthy and do not take care of the buyers. It has been a nightmare.

We moved into a D.R. Horton home in the Millstone neighborhood of McKinney, TX, in September 2023. After strong winds blew through yesterday morning, every single fence on my street fell like a domino effect. I am extremely frustrated with this situation, especially considering this is a new neighborhood and property.

After speaking with multiple neighbors, I’ve learned that several contractors have assessed the damage and confirmed that the builder did not dig deep enough when installing the fence posts. Around one foot below the surface, there is bedrock that requires a jackhammer to break through, adding extra costs per post. Rather than installing the fence posts properly at a depth of at least two feet, D.R. Horton’s contractor took shortcuts, resulting in unstable fences that couldn’t withstand some heavy wind.

D.R. Horton is refusing to take any responsibility. Over 30 homes in our community are dealing with the same issue. Many of these neighbors have shared other serious construction problems that Horton refuses to address. It’s beyond frustrating to move into a new construction home and immediately deal with these kinds of issues due to poor craftsmanship and lack of accountability—especially in a neighborhood that’s barely three years old.

I’ve added photos to show how the fences collapsed in a uniform manner. Let this be a a huge warning to anyone considering a home from D.R. Horton..

If they decide to step up and resolve this, I’ll gladly update my review.

Buyer beware, where do I begin?! So many things wrong but the main point is that DR Horton will not help you in any “warranty claim” AFTER you purchase your house. It is not just us in Florida because the corporate people are the decision makers and they do not care about customers at all. My main clean out pipe was broken/crushed outside before we moved in/closed and 2 days after moving in RAW SEWAGE throughout the bottom floor of my house! Had to rip out drywall, carpet, baseboards & vanity of bathroom. Still living with raw concrete floors and tack strips a month later with them declining to help out with tile as a compromise. $2400 is nothing for a company as big as them to make it right. Sewage was addressed after 4 days of it sitting and smelling awful in my house because apparently no one in corporate or who has approval authority works Fridays or weekends. Absolutely unacceptable! We were reluctant to purchase from DR Horton based on the reviews we read however, our salesperson is a great person and we had hope based on the professionalism of the salesperson and how he has treated us. After this we will never buy a DR Horton house again. All they care about is money and they do not care about their customers or customer retention or future purchases from current owners. If I could give zero stars I would. They have some good people working for them but at the top they will not budge with anything and they will blame you for their mistakes in the house. Over a month without flooring in my brand new house is unacceptable and tack strips everywhere sticking my kids feet. Buyers beware if your house has any problems DR Horton will NOT remedy it. We should’ve gone with Lennar or a private builder, next time we will. Please take this as a sign you should not buy a home from them!
*** UPDATE*** 10/4/2024
Since the sewage backup I have done a whole house deep cleaning which I do a room or area a month. Started on this bathroom which I was assured after the sewage backup that everything was sanitized and cleaned so that nothing would have been left behind I was told a total sanitization, I was so wrong! I pulled off the clean out plate only to find they never removed it to clean it and make sure nothing was behind there! So for now over a year we’ve had sewage and toilet paper in our bathtub just waiting to fall down in the water that my kids bathe in! I’m so pissed and unbelievably mad I WILL NEVER BUY A DR HORTON HOME EVER AGAIN! They are so shoddy at everything they do and THEY DO NOT CARE AT ALL!!! They are building new houses in the front of my neighborhood DO NOT BUY IN ADAMSON CREEK IN COCOA FLORIDA or you will get this type of home plus all the yard drainage issues we have! I have added more photos (23-27) for corporate that never contacted me not one time at all! DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!
